For a full 2 minutes, after the elimination result was announced in the Idol today, my eyes were wide shut. I wanted to feel how it must have been for Scott to be in the limelight yet not be able to see it.
In the 2 minutes that my eyes were wide shut I wondered how short sighted could it have been to choose Anoop over Scott.
Scott - You are differently abled, A dark beauty. I salute you!
A lot has changed since I last wrote.
Nadal laughed. Federer cried.
McCain couldn't while Obama said "You can".
And the Khans proved they can. Shah Rukh Khan made a movie about a man who attempts to steal his wife from his alter ego Raj by making her see God in him (Psst...I was literally and geographically sleepless in Seattle after watching the movie). The Atheistic English buses in UK buses took to streets screaming "There is probably no god"! Read This!
Not to be outdone is the other Khan who remade a hindi movie from a Tamil movie which was remade from an English movie. In the end all that was really made was a lot of millions.
When all of them went laughing to the bank they all stashed their money in, they found that it no longer existed. While Ghajini was suffering from short term memory loss all finance and software professionals were wishing they could suffer from the same and regain it after all the meltdown was over. Economies Collapsed, Debts formed. Millionaires became slumdogs, Slumdogs became millionaires.
While Bollywood swelled with pride Mumbaikar's limbs swelled in pain. Taj no longer reminded people of hot chai. Oberoi was no longer the last name of the ex-boyfriend of an ex- Miss World.
Mrs. O beat Sarah Palin for the maximum number of hits on Internet.
So did 1-800-BREAK-UP.org as yet another valentines day came and went .This valentine's recession trumped love when couples decided that love too needed to be laid off from our lives in these difficult times. Hallmark, florists and chocolate factories fought back valiantly. "Buy 2 for the price of 1". "Go double this valentines for the price of one". 1 is now the new 2.
Divorces are few for fear of lesser alimony. The once sought after finance and software professional men have had to re-asses their worth in the job and matrimony market. Singleness has made a brief comeback.
Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi gave India a grand slam. Ramalinga Raju gave India its Enron.
On a personal front I am glad 2008 is over. I completed a quarter of a century on planet earth last year. I had a truly international birthday choosing to fly out of US to my homeland after close to 2 years on the day. More on that later.
Straw (My nephew) has turned older by a year 1 and has a new tooth. I have turned older by a year too and have lost one tooth!
I rediscovered old friends but had to let go of some new ones. Sigh! Its a small world! Someday, Sometime our paths shall cross.
I bid goodbye to the last year and welcomed the new one while vacationing in the East coast and the South.
The snow has started melting and the wintry chill is giving way to the warm Sunshine which is beginning to fill the bodies and hearts of Humans! To good Times!
I Think...... Therefore I am.......
She carried him through wind and storm
Mothered a lost soul from dusk to dawn
Every necessity of life she gave
And not an inch of want did she crave
Time moved on and so did the tide
Gallantly they moved on the roller coaster ride
Ups and downs a part of life
They talked of everything including their strife
From bitching humour to intellectual talk
Nothing stopped them from their blissful walk
On top of the hill the horizon they always saw
And when down in the valley they fought their regular law
For Columbia they craved and dreamed
No its not coffee, its just their dream sealed
She was the boat and he was the oars
Without each other they could never fight the boars
They fought many battles through highs and lows
History will tell of their stories galore
They won some, They lost some, but they tried so hard
That the devil had tears and so did the silent lord
She was responsible and knew what was right
He had his ideals but was confused what was dark or light
Life is mysterious and the day came
When the boat had to float and the oars were lame
The boat was strong and she could float without help
The oar was wooden and would sink with an unheard yelp
He still waits at the sea shore
When she will return and together they will discover more
A wait so long and lonely for him
But he says he will do it even if the light goes dim
What keeps them going is memories from the past
A treasure never lost even if the die is cast
They will live for today and for tomorrow
They shall live through happiness and sorrow
They shall dance away the darkness in purple haze
The shall remain enshrined in a crystal maze!
TGIF! :) Is what she thought...She wanted to always quit on a Monday but a girl can't have all the luck.
And so like most of them knew by now that it was her last Friday there.....16 months ago She came in a yellow cab to work with a few hundred dollars and an indomitable spirit. Then she had nothing to loose for she never had any, and on the last Friday though she drove her own car she wanted to leave in a yellow cab reminiscing the glorious past and a future beckoning her with another set of endless possibilities and challenges to keep her going in the mindless space...
She had started with 2 sheets ,a porridge bowl and some manna. She was leaving richer than ever and equally wiser. The city had made her endure hardships, tested her, broken her down completely, taught her to laugh and cry through pain and sorrows, made her and finally remade her.
When she left she did not owe anyone any money or code, all she was leaving with were memories to go write another chapter in her travelogue that her work authored!
It wasn't that she thought the world of the people she was leaving or that she didn't ! What it definitely meant was that she had learnt something from them all and was taking a part of them with her, for after all they were her extended family for a year and a half and it was her first home in the land of free that she was leaving behind. Her first port of entry...
Their companionship had validated her being and provided food for her soul as it did for them. She was hated and loved to the extremes. She didn't mind either for the only thing that mattered to her was if she was inspiring...
She always thought that it’s not the years that you put into your life, it’s the life you put into your years...and they definitely had put life in hers in some way thereby leaving an indelible impression...
She had tormented many of them for loving her ,for hating her ,for not getting her cookies from home and also sometimes maybe simply for the joy of tormenting but all that was in good spirit. They all took it in a lighter vein and forgave and forgot. She was one of them..
Joys and sorrows were shared, in dire circumstances even a cup of coffee was shared when the vending machine ran out of refills and Oh! Yeah! all the sleepless developer's night out, Weekends.....
When she left she told them that though it sounded cliched she wanted to leave them with her words and that were....
Nobody dies a V*rg*n , life manages to scr*w us all anyways :) so live life king size!!!
(* intended !)
To some though she said what she always liked saying .....
When winds of fortune blows against you
Remember you can harness them
And blow you towards your definite purpose
Through the use of your imagination!
She bid her final goodbye and urged a spirit of goodwill and camaraderie to remain. She told herself that the purpose of her stay there was to forge the next link in the chain of events that would make up the story of her life ....
She had come, She had seen and She had conquered...
I will till death do us apart! or till some malicious Trojan comes between us!
I have been very unfaithful to you and have been shamelessly promiscuous over the last few weeks! To the extent of not even keeping our vows of being with each other till death do us apart!
With those few words my dear Blog I renew our vows and rekindle the romance that once was the soul of my life......
Of course in my defense I shall cite the reasons for my transgressions as a new work location, a new line of work(I still pretend to work while my company pretends to pay!) and moves galore with me hopping and skipping apartments till my humble abode beckons and claims me!
And did I forget to mention a visit from an unwlecome and announced guest Herpesviridae ! Yep that's him, Mr. Viral Fever!
I believe nothing happens until it happens to me and so I now humbly declare the existence of the Viral fever and beg that the Healthcare Gurus accord it the same status as a National Epidemic would command and anyone suffering from it be given a week off from work! :) And declare shopping for new shoes as a cure for the same!
A little hand me down to anyone who I dare say might be unfortunate enough to be visited by Herpesviridae ...Mama always says "'A viral fever usually gets treated in 7 days with medications and in a week without any"
Also I had to share these pics before I get tempted into making this a full length post particularly about nothing but generally about everything.....from my trip to Philadelphia and Washington!(Yeas was in WAS last weekend! )
The ones below are from Philadelphia.....(Betsy Ross House(She made the US Flag!), Penn's Landing, Much Famed Liberty Bell, The Phila Logo, The Eastern State Penitentiary(Al Capone was here for a while!), Penn's landing, Rodin Museum, Union Station)

Some from the memorable memorial day spent in Washington....

On their tombstones will be written
There were once people completely smitten
Living the American dream
In the music city over latte's and ice creams
He wandered to harsher lands
Still never did he forget her hands
Held over mile long walks
Sprinkled with unforgettable talks
Of Lynard, Hendrix ,Pacino and Marlboros
Of work woes, societal plagues and life's sorrows
Paw prints once left all over Uncle Sam's backyard
Hearts which eventually spilled and cracked like a shard
Some called them workmates
Some called them bed mates
Each considered the other a soul mate
Fate alas! made them foul mates
The helpless breadwinner left for a distant land out of sight
Her domestic barks were getting worse than long distance bites
Sun in his distant horizon while Moon in her starry skies
Graham Bell's invention kept strengthening their ties
The sojourn finally came to an end
Alas! once a straight road now had a bend
From their slumber they did awaken
Their dreamy love forsaken
She needed to leave despite having nowhere to go
He asked to stay for he needed her to run the show
And when their worlds did finally meet
His was the heart that was cut neat
Though Crippled by the days bygone
She did her best to move on
As for him , this was his love most sweetest
But as they say the first cut is always the deepest
They can still be seen walking down a trail
Through heat, snow , rain and hail
They forever treasure each other in their memories
Like a child comforts itself in its mother's mammaries
The way they thought it will turn out to be
And how it can no longer be....
How they once did belong
Sadly not any long ...
The way they once were...
The way they no longer are...

I am...
She came , She saw , She shopped :)
My dad has a mind of steel,
What does that make me?
A prodigal daughter!
